Imperfection creates art, and art tells stories. There is beauty in the mundane and elegance in the imperfect. I strive to create this feeling in my visuals. As a cinematographer, photographer and designer storytelling is not just a linear idea to me. My inspiration comes from the gritty visuals of horror, thriller, and underground media. Directors such as Danny and Micheal Philippou greatly influence my storytelling and visual narratives. Cinema such as Ari Asters “Hereditary”, “Midsommar”, and Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All” are direct influences to my visual and narrative style. Inspirations of mine also include industrial and underground aesthetic as well as gothic elements that are implemented into my work. I am also influenced by my personal life, through my own experiences with mental health and other aspects of my life I am able to bring an air of personal connection to the visuals I create. If i were to describe my visual style in a simple phrase it would have to be “Grungy elegance”; striving to make the imperfect beautiful.
